Reishi Mushroom Tea — An Ancient Asian Botanical Tradition
Discover Reishi Mushroom Tea, a distinctive herbal infusion inspired by one of the most recognised mushrooms in traditional Asian botanical culture.
Reishi has been valued for centuries in East Asian traditions and is widely known by names including Lingzhi and Ganoderma.
At Krittiya Garden, we bring this traditional botanical into contemporary everyday life through carefully prepared, convenient tea bags — allowing you to experience its characteristic earthy flavour as part of a simple daily tea ritual.
What Is Reishi Mushroom?
Reishi generally refers to mushrooms belonging to the genus Ganoderma.
The mushroom is widely known as Lingzhi (灵芝) in Chinese and Reishi in Japanese-derived English usage. It has a long history of traditional use throughout East Asia.
Its distinctive appearance, woody texture and naturally bitter character have made Ganoderma one of the most recognisable mushrooms associated with traditional Asian botanical knowledge.
Botanical Information
Common Name: Reishi Mushroom Also Known As: Lingzhi, Ganoderma Genus:Ganoderma Tradition: East Asian botanical heritage
Important botanical note: If your raw-material specification specifically confirms Ganoderma lucidum, use that species name throughout the product page. If it only states Ganoderma/Reishi, I would not automatically identify it as G. lucidum, because commercial “reishi” can encompass different Ganoderma species.
What Does Reishi Mushroom Tea Taste Like?
Reishi has a very different flavour profile from conventional black or green tea.
Expect a naturally:
Earthy
Woody
Deep botanical
Characteristically bitter
flavour.
The bitterness is part of Reishi’s natural character rather than something that needs to be hidden.
For customers new to Reishi Tea, a small amount of honey may be added according to personal preference.
Naturally Caffeine-Free
Reishi Mushroom Tea does not come from the conventional tea plant, Camellia sinensis, and a pure Reishi infusion is therefore naturally caffeine-free.
This makes it an alternative botanical beverage for people who want to explore flavours beyond conventional caffeinated teas.
From Traditional Knowledge to Modern Research
Reishi mushrooms have a long history within traditional East Asian practices.
Modern scientific research has investigated naturally occurring constituents in Ganoderma mushrooms, particularly polysaccharides, beta-glucans and triterpenoid compounds.
These constituents have attracted scientific interest and continue to be studied for a range of biological activities.
However, laboratory findings, animal studies and research involving particular extracts or preparations should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that an ordinary cup of Reishi Mushroom Tea can prevent, treat or cure disease.
At Krittiya Garden, we believe botanical traditions deserve both respect and scientific responsibility.

The bags rip SUPER easy. Be careful. Handle this bag like your holding a bubble and not trying to pop it. Other than that the product is as advertised 100% Reishi.

Way smaller than expected. Have to use 2 or 3 to even get the water to change color and deposit the tea. I’ll be looking for a different product

About Reishi
Reishi is the common name associated with mushrooms in the genus Ganoderma and has a long history within East Asian botanical traditions.
Modern research has identified several groups of naturally occurring compounds in Ganoderma mushrooms, including polysaccharides, beta-glucans and triterpenoids.
The composition and concentration of these compounds can vary depending on the species, growing conditions, part of the mushroom used and processing method.
How to Brew Reishi Mushroom Tea
1. Place one tea bag in your cup Use one Reishi Mushroom Tea bag per serving.
2. Add hot water Pour approximately 200–250 ml (7–8 fl oz) of hot water over the tea bag.
3. Steep for 5–7 minutes Allow the Reishi to infuse thoroughly.
4. Adjust the strength For a milder cup, reduce the steeping time. For a deeper, more pronounced Reishi character, allow it to steep slightly longer.
5. Remove the tea bag and enjoy Drink warm and experience its naturally earthy, woody and pleasantly bitter character.
Optional Serving Suggestion
Reishi naturally has a noticeable bitter flavour. If preferred, add a small amount of honey after brewing.
Reishi Iced Tea

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reishi Mushroom Tea? Reishi Mushroom Tea is a herbal infusion prepared from Reishi, a mushroom associated with the Ganoderma genus and a long history of traditional use in East Asian cultures.
Is Reishi the same as Lingzhi? The terms are closely related. “Lingzhi” is the Chinese name commonly used for medicinally valued Ganoderma mushrooms, while “Reishi” is the name widely used internationally.
Is Reishi Mushroom the same as Ganoderma lucidum? Ganoderma lucidum is one species historically associated with the name Reishi. However, the terminology and taxonomy of commercial Reishi/Lingzhi mushrooms are more complicated, and different Ganoderma species may be marketed under these common names. The exact species should therefore be determined from the raw-material specification.
Does Reishi Mushroom Tea contain caffeine? Pure Reishi Mushroom Tea is naturally caffeine-free because Reishi is a mushroom rather than the conventional tea plant Camellia sinensis.
What does Reishi Mushroom Tea taste like? Reishi has a distinctive earthy, woody and naturally bitter flavour. The bitterness is a normal characteristic of the mushroom.
Why is Reishi Tea bitter? The characteristic bitterness is associated with naturally occurring constituents in Reishi, including various triterpenoid compounds. The precise flavour depends on the raw material and preparation.
How do I brew Reishi Mushroom Tea? Place one tea bag in approximately 200–250 ml of hot water and steep for around 5–7 minutes. Adjust the steeping time according to your preferred strength.
Can I add honey to Reishi Tea? Yes. If you find the natural bitterness too pronounced, a small amount of honey can be added after brewing.
Can I drink Reishi Mushroom Tea cold? Yes. Prepare a slightly stronger infusion, allow it to cool and serve over ice.
How many tea bags are included? Each pack contains 60 individual tea bags.
What natural compounds are found in Reishi mushrooms? Ganoderma mushrooms contain numerous naturally occurring constituents. Among the groups most frequently investigated are polysaccharides, including beta-glucans, and various triterpenoid compounds.
Does Reishi Mushroom Tea boost the immune system? Reishi and particular Ganoderma-derived compounds have been studied for effects related to immune function. However, evidence depends heavily on the preparation, dose and population studied. Research involving concentrated extracts or isolated compounds should not be treated as proof that an ordinary cup of Reishi Tea “boosts immunity.”
Does Reishi Mushroom Tea help you sleep? Reishi has traditional uses and has been investigated in research relevant to several aspects of wellbeing, but it would be too strong to promise that this tea improves or treats sleep problems. Krittiya Garden Reishi Mushroom Tea should be presented as a botanical beverage rather than a treatment for insomnia.
Is Reishi Mushroom Tea a medicine? No. Krittiya Garden Reishi Mushroom Tea is sold as a botanical beverage and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.
Can everyone drink Reishi Mushroom Tea? Herbal products may not be appropriate for everyone. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition, are preparing for surgery, or take medications—particularly medicines affecting blood clotting, blood pressure, blood glucose or immune function—should consult an appropriate healthcare professional before regular use.
